Once again the Montauk Chamber of Commerce has shown it is adept at throwing a great party! The fourth annual Taste of Montauk was once again held at the magnificent Montauk Yacht Club, but this time it was outdoors. Under a huge white tent the buffet food tables were set up for guests to make their selections. They were able to mingle more comfortably in and outside on the lawn set up with tables and chairs while enjoying the scenic view of yachts in their slips and the sun glistening over the tranquil water. Over two hundred guests attended this sold out tasting of delectable offerings from the twenty participating restaurants and breweries and wineries that were there. Welcoming and brief opening remarks were offered by Paul Monte, the Chamber’s President and Laraine Creegan, Executive Director. Mr. Monte thanked the guests for supporting the Chamber’s activities by attending this event and helping to raise money by the ticket sales. What is the Taste of Montauk all about? Think about tables lined up with such choices as, summer gazpacho with lobster, mini crab cakes, lobster roll sliders, bay scallops with mango salsa, duck tacos, honey ginger popcorn shrimp, lobster Ceviche, and key lime pie topped with whipped crème and you have just a small list of the fantastic food served that evening. Add to this wines, Montauk beers, refreshing iced teas and lemonade and there is no doubt a party is made. The Taste of Montauk is the perfect venue for guests to sample the wonderful food the restaurants had to offer. All in one location, it was the perfect place for visitors to be introduced to a restaurant they may not be familiar with and now know where they want to head for a full course dinner!
Keeping the evening moving musically was the absolutely terrific Lynn Blue Band. With a lead singer that made every song a winner and her musical backup, the selections were truly crowd pleasers. From hits of the sixties right up through the decades, it was music that the guests thoroughly enjoyed. Guests joined in dancing while others gathered closer to the band to sway along with the beloved tunes of days gone by. Gorgeous location, fabulous food and music to round off the evening made this event one you don’t want to miss next year!
