For more than 50 years,Uihlein’s Marina has been offering top of the line boating services and rentals in Montauk Harbor. On a recent beautiful sunny day in Montauk, I had the chance to take out one of their jet skis for an hour in the afternoon. I arrived at the marina,watched a quick instructional safety video, took a review test and was ready to go! A short stroll brought me to Gosman’s beach where I was greeted by a friendly Uihlein worker named Eddie. He shuttled me to the pon toon boat where I put all of my belongings,then Ihopped on one of their fantastic jet skis and was on my way!
The location on Fort Pond Bay is a gorgeous setting to cruise around and explore Montauk ‘s beauty, while still offering calm water to make the experience even more enjoyable. The jet skis that Uihlein’s offer are in great condition and provided ease of control yet ample power for even the most daring of riders. You can easily take a pas senger along too. I was able to easily maneuver throughout the open water and hit top speeds while never feeling out of control. I felt completely free cruising from the jetty to the end of the beach with the wind whipping though my hair!
When the hour was over, it was hard for me to give the jet ski back, but I was grateful for being able to enjoy such a wonderful outdoor experience. All of the Uhlein employees were incredibly nice and informative and made the experience fun and carefree. Jet skiing may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Montauk, but I can assure you that it could be a great event for the whole family. It’s a sure way to score points with kids of all ages. Whether you need a break from the beach or just want to have an exhila rating good time, I highly recommend renting jet skis from Uihlein’s Marina.
