Montauk Parasail, boarding off the dock at Star Island Yacht Club & Marina was the perfect family outing. We had high expectations for the trip and were completely blown away by the experience.
You are taken up with one or two other people at once, buckled in and slowly lifted on and off the boat. Your seat feels as if you’re sitting comfortably on a swing, though you don’t need to hang on or hold yourself up. Once you’re up in the air, the ride is surprisingly calm and relaxing, with an incredible view as you cruise along the coast of Montauk. “Breathtaking areal views. I had no idea we would go that high up in the air, I could see across Montauk, the town, Gosman’s Dock, and the Lighthouse at the point, and that is just naming a few. It was so gorgeous,” a quote from my cousin, Carly Pick age twenty-two. The excursion was accommodating to a wide range of ages, including my younger cousin, Ruby, age eight, who has been raving about the trip ever since. Even the slight nervousness a few of us had going into the event, was quickly subsided by the laid back and professional demeanor of our captain, Joe, and his first mate, Bittany.
The type of parasailing experience you have, is entirely up to you. Most of us took the relaxing route, a slow ride through the air with stunning views. Though my sister and Uncle Richie, opted for the dunking option, where instead of simply being brought in and out from the boat, they were dipped into the water. “It was so much fun! I would definitely recommend the dunking option”, Emma Pipolo, age eighteen. The captain even sent us up with a go pro to take incredible footage of our trip. I have been visiting Montauk throughout my life and I couldn’t imagine loving it any more than I already do. The trip gave a new perspective of my favorite place, seeing everything from high up, it was even more breathtaking than usual.
