Did you know that in August 2023, there will be two Full Moons? The first full moon on August 1 is known as the Full Sturgeon Moon, and it is the second full moon after the Summer Solstice in 2023. The second full moon on August 30 is the Full Blue Moon, the third and final moon of the Summer season. This means the Full Sturgeon Moon and the Full Blue Moon will be the two full moons in August 2023. The Full Sturgeon Moon has its name after the large number of sturgeon caught in North America’s Great Lakes, while the Full Blue Moon is a rare second full moon in the same calendar month for 2023.
