(FIMP) BEACH NOURISHMENT UPDATE
This past storm has literally wiped out the Montauk town beach, exposing the sandbags that were placed to protect the existing properties from being destroyed. Fortunately, the long-awaited help from the army core engineers is about to begin. The town of East Hampton has been pursuing their anticipated help and was able to get them to arrive ahead of time and just in time
FIMP HISTORY

- Project was first authorized by the Rivers and Harbors Act in July 1960
- The All-Sand Beach Nourishment of Downtown Montauk was scheduled for Late 2025 Initially. Through advocation efforts of the EHT Board, the project will now be accomplished this winter under the FIMI PL84-99 Emergency Response contract
- The 100% USACOE funded project, is a temporary solution to sea level rise and beach erosion
