There’s been a lot of happenings at the Montauk Senior Nutrition Center. On August 31, Thomas Butler, Renea Farr, James (Buddy) Burke, Antonio Corvi and staff member, Perula Volk, celebrated their birthdays with a delicious to-die-for strawberry, short cake, after finishing another gourmet dish, prepared by Executive Director and Temporary Chef, Therese Jarmain.
Looking at the smiles on their faces and the twinkles in their eyes, it is obvious that the seniors are happy to be out of their homes to meet each other, in spite of the restrictions imposed on them. With COVID-19 and its more contagious variants still lurking around, most of the young at hearts are surprisingly resilient to wearing their masks at all times (except when eating or drinking) and to seating further apart at the table, marked by a big blue X tape, reminding them where not to sit.
If you are 60 and over, please come to the center on Monday to Friday from 11:00a.m. to 2:00pm to enjoy the luxury of being served by caring volunteers, a well balanced meal on real china and silver ware for only $3.00. The desert alone is worth it. You can also improve your physical and mental health by attending Ms. Tsuyumi’s Chair Yoga on Mondays and Fridays at 10:45a.m. to 11:30a.m. and Ms. Margaret’s Meditation, Reiki, Tai Chi, Balance Exercises and informative talks on Tuesdays at 1:00p.m. to 2:00p.m.
For more info, kindly contact Ms. Jarmain, at least 24 hours in advance at 631 668 1023 or e-mail her at mtksencenter@gmail.com to reserve your meal. Happy Birthday Tom, Renea, Buddy, Tony and Perula and a Happy Halloween to All!
