THEN AND NOW is a presentation about the Long Island Railroad Station area where the Montauk Artists’ Association’s Depot Gallery is located. It will also be an occasion to discuss and celebrate the history of the Montauk Artists’ Association in honor of its 25th Anniversary.
An exhibit of MAA members’ artwork will be on display in the Montauk Library’s Gosman Community Room Starting April 1st, Please check with the library for the closing date. See www.montauklibrary.org/calendar or call 631-668-3377 for more information.
The Montauk Artists’ Association was started as an effort to broaden an already existing art talent in Montauk and to bring to all artists, both professional and amateur, an avenue by which they could enjoy group art activities, receive art instruction and show their work.
Originally, classes were offered in the evening, twice a year. Attendance was excellent and the students who attended these programs became the original members of the Association.
In 1998, the Association acquired the Long Island Railroad’s Montauk Station. The Depot Art Gallery and Art School are in this building. The Gallery features 10 day shows with groups of Members, from Memorial Day weekend through Columbus Day.
The Association is an inclusive organization and welcomes all who are interested in the arts. Receptions are held the first Saturday of every show and everyone is welcome to attend.
The Montauk Artists’ Association is located at the Depot Art Gallery at the Montauk LIRR Train Station at the junction of Edgemere and Flamingo Roads in Montauk, NY
