Mark Saturday, August 10, 2019 on your calendar for a fabulous concert evening of doo-wop favorites and good old rock and roll! The concert is held at Southampton High School auditorium, 141 Narrow Lane, Southampton, N.Y. The Southampton Lion’s Club always has an outstanding line up of legendary golden oldies songs performers and this year an American Idol is added to the show. The 17th annual spectacular will be another great evening of fantastic talent and great music. The evening is sponsored by WLNG Radio’s and produced by LAR Enterprises, Inc “It’s About the Music”. Be sure to come early to see the extraordinary classic, vintage cars on display from 5 – 7 pm in the school parking lot! The concert starts at 7 pm. What is surprising about this concert is that the attendees range in all ages each year. Not only are there folks that remember this music from their teen years, but a new following of young people are discovering this fantastic, timeless music that was popular decades before they were even born! Great night out for friends, family, dates and co workers looking for music that touches the soul and gets audiences singing and swaying along to the beloved lyrics of days gone by!
This year’s performers include the return of Kenny Vance and the Planotones – “Looking for an Echo”, Larry Chance & The Earls – “I Believe” and The Vogues – “5 O’Clock World”. Add to this terrific show is a special presentation by American Idol, Christiaan Padavan, to round out a fabulous musical evening! Once again the evening’s Master of Ceremonies is Cool Bobby B, host of WLNG’s, “The DooWop Stop” oldies show. Whether you are of a certain age and remember these songs from your teen years, or are just discovering this type of music, you KNOW it will be an unforgettable evening! You won’t be able to refrain from singing along to these classic “golden oldies”, I promise you!
This concert is always a sell out! Come out and join the rest of the audience for a terrific trip down memory lane! This event is a not-to-be missed evening out on the town. Donation for the tickets are $50 each and support the fine work the Lion’s Organization does for the visually impaired, provides scholarships for local students and a host of other charitable activities.
