January Birthday Celebrants
The New Year was off to a good start for volunteer Chrissy Herbert for being on duty to serve her nonagenarian, 97 years young mom, Marianne Mennona and volunteer Kathryn Flanagan for their January luncheon birthday celebration. The room was filled with joy as their peers sang “Happy Birthday” and wished them both many more to come.
Valentine’s Day At the Center
Valentine’s Day, February fourteen, was extra special for the romantic seniors, thanks to Executive Director Sharon Sennefelder. A scrumptious brunch consisting of pancakes, omelettes, sausages and taters served with freshly brewed coffee, milk or tea was served in place of the regular lunch menu.
The Center’s room was decorated with paper red hearts that matched the group’s attire in the spirit of love. Entertainment was provided by the Dynamic Duo of Montauk, Lydia on the piano and yours truly, singing Valentine songs that brought warm smiles to everyone and recalling precious moments shared with their loved ones.
Recently, Tai-Chi was introduced alternating with a Wellness Program courtesy of the Town of East Hampton that was well received by the seniors. Hopefully, there will be more in the near future to keep the elderly physically and mentally fit.
If you are at least sixty years old and would like to join this lively group for lunch at noon from Monday to Friday, play bingo, mahjong, cards, dominoes, do chair yoga and some meditation, kindly call Sharon or e-mail her at mtksenctr@gmail.com.
For those who are staying home to avoid the cold, don’t fret, Spring is just around the corner.
