As we reflect over the past 14 years [including 2 years without an in-person festival], we fondly remember meeting many talented artists and concert goers, while enjoying numerous wonderful performances.

For many, coming to this one-of-a-kind Festival to showcase their original music, is an experience they’ll never forget. A breathtaking venue, where up-and-coming artists can get exposure and networking opportunities with other artists and industry personnel, and perform for a receptive and appreciative audience.

This past August we once again worked with the Montauk Lighthouse Historical Society to raise money
for the many projects they are responsible for with the upkeep of the site. The Wallflower Concert was a successful fundraising effort. The crowd sat on the hill of the natural amphitheater facing the ocean, in the shadow of the magnificent Montauk Lighthouse. The weather was perfect, a big change from the summer of 2021 pre-hurricane concert, with a gorgeous sunset and full moon rising over the tower. Jessica Lynn kicked off the evening with her beautiful country rock voice. She was followed by Jakob Dillon and the band taking the stage to entertain the audience with their songs, as well as a few from Tom Petty. What a wonderful evening! Stay tuned for updates about 2023 concerts.

This year’s May Montauk Music Festival, after a few years at the lighthouse, will once again be held in town. As soon as it’s confirmed, the exact location and schedule will be posted on the website www.montaukmusicfestival.com. The industry workshops will be held on the Friday and/or Saturday of the festival, and there will be voice coaches, harmonica and guitar demonstrations among other industry panels and discussions throughout the weekend. The complete schedule will also be on the website and posted at the event.

New this year, we will be raising money to support two local East End Charities: Lucia’s Angels and East End Coalition for Women’s Cancers. The Coalition for Women’s Cancers provides services to women diagnosed with gynecological cancers from Manorville to Montauk-South Fork only [there is another coalition for the North Fork]. Lucia’s Angels does the same for women with Stage 4 gynecological cancers- they serve both forks. These organizations create a supportive network for women affected by breast, ovarian, cervical, and uterine cancers; focusing on a wide range of needs, from early detection and empowerment to bring about better health care and an improved quality of life. The services include educational, emotional, treatment, and financial support, as well as wellness for survivors. They rely on donations, grants and fundraisers to support their many efforts.

As in the past, local youth from some of the Montauk School and EHHS will showcase their musical talents on Friday afternoon. In addition, a graduating senior from EHHS will once again be the recipient of a MMF Scholarship.

So don’t miss out on this enjoyable family friendly event. Come to Westlake Fish House on Thursday May 18th for the Opening Party – a fun filled evening of bands, sponsor drinks and appetizers. Tickets will be available at www.montaukmusicfestival.com or at the door. Then grab your beach chair and blanket and join us in town for two days of open-air concerts, as well as music throughout the town, at the restaurants and bars during the weekend of May 18-21st. We hope to see you there.
