Happy Birthday to former volunteer Ann Petersen, the only October celebrant. Wishing you many, many more.
It was great to have the Halloween parade back on Main Street to see children and pets in their cute, little, costumes. On Saturday, November 13, Montauk experienced strong winds and rain with tornado warnings going off on our cell phones. According to the National Weather Service, tornadoes categorized as EF-0 with winds from 65 mph up to 85 mph hit five Long Island cities and EF-1 with winds from 86 mph up to 110 mph struck Shirley and Manorville. Thankfully, the hamlet was spared with just minor damages such as toppled telephone polls ,trees, minor floods and lost of electricity.
At the present time, Executive Director Therese Jarmain is still cooking gourmet meals until a permanent cook is hired, most likely this month. Entrees such as Chicken Cordon Bleu, Pot Roast, Pork Loin and Stuffed Peppers, taste just a good as the most expensive restaurant in town. What makes it taste even better, is the low price of $3.00 which includes freshly made salad or soup, warm rolls and desserts to-die-for, such as lemon squares and fresh pineapples. There was a lot to be thankful for during Thanksgiving lunch held on Tuesday, November 23rd. Hopefully, many were able to spend time with their loved ones at home or were able to see each other virtually.
