Montauk Salt Cave and Spa is a one-stop health, beauty and fashion destination. Offering an array of products and services for your mind, body, and spirit, the Salt Cave, hidden behind Finest Kind Liquor store in the harbor, is an absolute must do experience.
Shannon, who owns the Cave, is personally invested in the health aspect that the cave offers. The beginnings of the Cave, over 5 years ago, stemmed from a personal family health issue. Now she’s developed this wellness concept offering relief and relaxation to many in Montauk, Huntington, and NYC.
Halotherapy is an alternative treatment for a wide variety of ailments and conditions, such as asthma, allergies, inflammation, and even the common cold. The cave is made of Himalayan Pink Salt that is imported from the Punjab, Pakistan region of the Himalayan Mountains. It is said to be left over from the primordial sea, which left behind the salt deposits as it evaporated.
The treatment offers a unique, natural therapy that allows you to get a sense of peace and serenity, while simply breathing in the beneficial, negatively-charged, ionized salt particles along with the 84 trace elements and minerals that the salt contains, such as calcium, potassium, magnesium, sodium, iodine, bromine, copper, selenium, and iron.
These particles help to clear all pollens, viruses, pollutants and toxins of the lungs and nasal passageways, which in essence works to treat and prevent illness. The salt also works to heal the body as soon as its negative ions enter the nasal passageway, which then travel through the respiratory tract and into the bloodstream to be dispersed throughout the body. It is naturally anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-fungal, and anti-microbial.
In addition to halotherapy, they offer an array of holistic healing sessions and spa services. Among the services offered by trained healers is Reiki, Yoga, sound healing, singing bowls, Guided Meditation & Spiritual Inspiration, and psychic and taro card readings.
In addition to Cave sessions, the shop is full of unique gift ideas including clothing, jewelry, personal beauty items, and salt products. New at the cave is their Re-Fuel Bar: OBEEHAVE refill products that can be used for all of you…. hair, body, and face! All organic, healing universal washes and conditioners. Available in a lovely array of scents, with re-fillable bottles or- BYOB to help save the Planet one bottle at a time!
Spa Offerings: Lola is the Spa professional who offers a variety of treatments for pampering, skin, and body wellness. Available treatments include facials, massages, hair removal, brow tinting, and lashes…highlighting YUMILashes. YUMILashes are not fake eyelashes, it’s a system to boost and lift the natural eyelash; your lashes are filled with a special pigment infusion resulting in thick, dark lashes that beautifully curve upwards creating an ‘open eye’ look. I’ve had mine done, which are usually very light and small looking. I love the look, as well as skipping the daily mascara.
A recent addition to their spa offerings, is a line of Facial products by the French company Guinot. Presently, she is doing four types of Guinot facials, Lift summum treatment, Hydra peeling treatment, Age summum treatment, and the Absolute facial.
Lift Summum: The Lift Summum treatment designed to firm and smooth the delicate skin of the face, neck, and chest (often the first areas to show signs of aging) – offering instant and long-term results. The Lift Summum is fast-acting and removes dead skin cells, redefines the face contour, and restores radiance in just 50 minutes.
Benefits:
• Exfoliates and removes dead cells
• Improves skin elasticity
• Fills and erases wrinkles
• Smooth and lifts facial features
Age Summum:
Age Summum is a 50-minute anti-aging treatment that will help regenerate, firm and restore the skin’s radiance.
Benefits:
• Firms and brightens the skin
• Diminishes fine lines and wrinkles
• Evens out the skin tone
I recently enjoyed the HYDRA-PEEL with Hydra PH treatment [also available with Hydrabrasion Peeling for sensitive skin] which is designed to exfoliate, resurface, moisturize and renew the skin. Using Phytic Acid this hydra-peeling left my skin smooth and refreshed after a summer of sun, salt and sand.
As Lola proceeded through the multi-step process, she massaged my face with her fingers deepening the relaxation of the session. To start, she used a gentle cleanser followed by the toner. She explained that anytime water is used on the face, the toner should be used to help restore the PH of the skin. Next, came the cool peel cream that she gently spread onto my face; I could feel a slight tingling action of the peel. This stage was once again followed up with the soothing toner prior to the application of the skin regenerating serum/ cream. As this was applied, she messaged my face gently with relaxing circular motions. The soothing beauty-enhancing mask was next, along with a wonderful arm, hand, and shoulder massage. The final toner step followed the mask removal, and then she applied eye, lip and face cream to enhance the hydration and smooth clean feeling of my skin. My skin feels cleaner, fresher and I hope even a bit younger….
All of the products have a very gentle clean smell, nothing flowery or too aromatic. I enjoyed this treatment and the feel of my skin so much, that I purchased some of the cleansing and cream steps to use at home.
